Case Study - Scalable Visualization Toolkits For Brains To Bays

Project Leader: Art Olson
Project Manager: Steve Cutchin
Project Web Sites: http://vistools.npaci.edu & visservices.npaci.edu

NPACI's Scalable Visualization Toolkits (a.k.a. VisTools) project is developing an integrated set of tools for analysis, filtering, compositing, rendering, and interacting with very large multi-dimensional, multi-modal, time-varying data sets from a wide range of different scientific disciplines.  The toolkits are designed to enable the use of data sets that
are too large to fit in the memory and swap space of desktop to teraflops computer systems.

We are utilizing NPACKage in combination with our visualization tools to support distributed rendering across NPACI Grid, Teragrid and other grid based systems.  We will be utilizing it extensively to support our grid based visualization portal as well as large scale scientific visualizations for NPACI partners.  Early example results can be seen at vistools.npaci.edu and also at visservices.npaci.edu.
